Endometriosis And Ovary
Pain
Effects Of Endometriosis
Ovary pain is a term associated with endometriosis, though
endometriosis can cause pain in many areas of the pelvis, not just the ovaries.
Endometriosis definition Endometriosis is a disorder in a
woman's reproductive system. When you have endometriosis, your uterine lining (medical name: endometrium)
grows in an abnormal location. This growth most often occurs on the ovaries and the outer layer of the uterus.
Effects of endometriosis Endometriosis can cause severe back, pelvic and
ovary pain. Many women say the pain of endometriosis is the most difficult type of pain involving their
reproductive organs to endure. It may be constant or intermittent. Pain from endometriosis may occur during
ovulation, and it may or may not coincide with a woman's menstrual cycle. It can be associated with adhesions,
inflammation in the pelvic area, painful bowel movements, and pain resulting from just standing or moving.
For all its variations, the two most important facts to remember are: it can be severe, and it can be serious
because it can result in infertility.
Endometriosis relief There is no cure, but there are ways to treat it
that provide relief from endometriosis pain and symptoms. Treatment can also prevent infertility.
If pain relief is the main consideration, hormone therapy designed to lower estrogen levels can help. If
becoming pregnant is your goal, you may need surgery, infertility treatment, or both.
Whether endometriosis is causing ovary pain or other symptoms, it's not something that can - or should - be
ignored.
