Ovarian Cyst Pain Relief
Ovarian Cyst Pain Treatment
In many instances, ovarian cyst pain relief is not needed
because most types of ovarian cysts don't cause ovary pain.
As explained elsewhere on this website, an ovarian cyst is a thin, bubble-like membrane filled with fluid.
It's usually harmless and it causes no ovary pain. In fact, most women don't even know they have an ovarian cyst,
and it often goes away without treatment.
Unfortunately, there are times when an ovarian cyst will cause pain that will require treatment to get relief.
When it does, the pain or discomfort may include lower abdomen pain or pelvis pain. It may be sudden, and
sharp, and may come and go. You may also feel some pain in the lower back pain during menstruation. Pelvic
pressure or fullness is not unusual, and you may also experience pain after intercourse, after exercise, or even
during urination or bowel movements. Vaginal pain and spotting is possible.
If nausea or vomiting occur along with these other symptoms, it's best to consult your doctor.
Once again, these symptoms do not occur with most ovarian cysts.
What to do for ovarian cyst pain Since most ovarian cyst pain goes away without
treatment, your doctor will advise you to wait through several menstrual cycles before taking action. He or she may
recommend oral contraceptives which help regulate your menstrual cycle, which can prevent cysts from forming.
Anti-inflammatory ovarian cyst pain relievers are another alternative for ovary pain caused by ovarian cysts. If
ovary pain is severe, prescription narcotic pain relievers may be in order.
If the pain is especially intense, and the cyst has grown noticeably, surgery is an option. In rare cases, it
may become necessary to remove an ovary.
